Passion fruit, as a flavor, seems to be all the rage in the States. But back home I had never actually seen a passion fruit.

Today, I discovered why. This is one of the nastiest looking fruits I’ve ever seen, and I’m saying that post-durian!

The inside has these seeds suspended in a mucus-like substance (in terms of both color and consistency). The flavor is strong and a bit bitter, but I think most people would enjoy it if they could look past the fruit’s guise. It tastes pretty much exactly like passion fruit-flavored drinks and snacks in the States; it’s just a whole heck of a lot less processed and much more fresh!
